West B Street Undercrossing Construction Planned Overnight Monday to Saturday

Construction work will take place overnight at the West B Street Undercrossing from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Monday, June 2 and running through Saturday, June 7.

During those hours, the pedestrian crossing will be closed and residents will need to take an alternative route over the railroad tracks, said the City of Dixon.

Steel sheet piling is being removed and noise and vibrations are expected.

City officials opted for the night hour repairs as the numerous passenger and freight trains during the day would make the task nearly impossible, as laborers must stop when trains are passing, the city said.

Rail traffic during night hours is less frequent.
