VIDEO: Californians React to the First Presidential Debate

Patch reporters all over California asked people what they thought of the debate.

We asked people at viewing parties all over the state for their take on Wednesday night's presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. As you might imagine, we got a wide variety of answers.

Some praised Romney for going after Obama and being aggressive, while others defended Obama's health care plan and accused Romney of avoiding specific details of his plan. At least one person thought the debate was just plain dull.

What did you think?

Incredibly boring. Obama asleep at the wheel, Romney dishonest and vague, Lehrer a huge disappointment.

Obama going to do big things to promote education in "science and technology"--guess he forgot that one of the first things he did was to scrap NASA--one of our (former) chief generators of innovative science and technology Romney dishonest? Prove your point. Vague? The challenger cannot give his best specific plans because the incumbent will take his ideas and enact them--he has the power. Romney: proven track record in business, government, and with Utah Ollympic Games of turning around distressed situations. Hmmm-m-m sounds like a man with abilities we could use. And about sharing the wealth--just remember, the money at the top will only go so far--then we have "trickle-down sharing"--are you ready to share your house, your car, your business with those more poor than you--because that's what happens after the wealth at the top of the pyramid is exhausted.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher
