Two School Board Members Endorse Gabby, DiPaola for Dixon School Board

With the November election around the corner, DUSD School Board candidates Joe DiPaola and John Gabby continue to gather endorsements

Just one day after endorsing each other and one week after being endorsed by the Dixon Teachers Association and Classified School Employees, candidates Joe DiPaola and John Gabby have been endorsed by Gildardo Piñon and Dr. Irina Okhremtchouk.  Both Piñon and Okhremtchouk are School Board members and will serve the next two years with whomever wins the November election.

In endorsing the DiPaola-Gabby team, both incumbents were quick to point out that their endorsements were made as engaged voters and private citizens, not as School Board members.

According to Okhremtchouk, who holds a doctorate in School Organization and Educational Policy, “John has proven himself over the last few years.  He knows how to build consensus and he listens with an open mind.”

Of DiPaola she said: “Joe’s degree in economics and his passion for our kids are a perfect combination. He also has common sense, something often lacking in politicians.  It’s a heck of a combination. Joe may be a little rough around the edges, but that’s because he cares so much about what’s happening to our schools.”

Piñon said: “Joe and I basically ran on the same platform two years ago.  We both want to restore programs, advocate for our youth and bring the community and the district back together.  Joe has some great ideas and I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to put some of them into practice.”

“John Gabby is my friend and an all-around good guy," Piñon added. "I know what the last four years has been like for him; the first two must have been terrible.  Now we have a real opportunity to see the School Board come together as a team.  It’s time to leave the old disagreements behind and move forward as an entire community.”

Come November, voters will choose whom they endorse when they vote for , or Dixon coach
