Steve Alexander Pulls Mayoral Nomination Papers, Three Pull City Council Nomination Papers

Former Dixon City Councilman Ted Hickman among the three who pulled city council nomination papers

As the deadline approaches to file nomination papers for this year's city council and mayoral races, three individuals have pulled nomination papers according to the City of Dixon and a former Dixon city councilman pulls mayoral papers.

Dixon Police Capt. Steve Bird, who is also a local rugby coach, SEUI field supervisor Ian Arnold and former Dixon City Councilman and columnist Ted Hickman have each pulled nomination papers for one of two seats available on the Dixon City Council.

In addition to the three vying for a seat on the dais, former Dixon City Councilman Steve Alexander has pulled mayoral nomination papers.

So far, only Yaqinah Abdurrahman has filed the papers with the city. The three who recently pulled papers join Dixon residents Drew Graska, Roberta Beers and Jerry Castanon in pulling the nomination papers.

Earlier this week, Dixonite Gary Erwin pulled nomination papers but decided not to run because he stated that "The facts are; my job has unpredictable hours, my commute takes 40 or more hours per month and free time is in short supply in my life."

Current Dixon City Councilman Michael Ceremello has returned his mayoral nomination papers with the city. So far, current Mayor Jack Batchelor has pulled his nomination papers, but has not filed them according to the city.

I am delighted to learn that Ian Arnold has taken out papers to run for the City Council. Ian was a voice of reason and negotiation on the late, non-lamented library commission and continues to be active in helping put the library back onto a proper track. Ian has impressive credentials overall and would be an outstanding councilman; Dixon is lucky to have his candidacy and many will support him whole-heartedly. Go Ian!!

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher
