Solano Voters Got it Right on Election Day

Letter to the editor concerning Measure L

Dear Editor:

On election day, voters showed just how much they value our public libraries by passing Measure L. We want to thank all of them for their overwhelming support for this wonderful community resource.

Getting the message out to voters didn’t happen in a vacuum. To the many volunteers, candidates, union members and others who informed voters by walking precincts, phoning, distributing and displaying signs, holding fundraising events, donating their time, money and so much more, we would like to say a heartfelt “Thank You”. Your generosity of spirit and belief in our libraries was key to informing voters about the importance of extending this funding source.

To C.C. Sabathia, thanks so much for serving as our honorary chair and sharing your memories of why the library was important to you and your wife Amber while growing up in Vallejo. To the staffs in the public libraries throughout the County, we want to say, “Thank you for serving our communities over the past 14 years and living up to the promises made in 1998.” Libraries do change lives every day and you showed that you could be trusted to live up to your word. To everyone who made this campaign such a success: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
