Sample Ballot Booklets, Vote-By-Mail Ballots in the Mail

Solano County has sent out sample ballot booklets, vote-by-mail-ballots for voters throughout the county

Sample ballot booklets for the upcoming November election should start arriving in voter mailboxes this weekend.

Permanent vote-by-mail voters in all Solano County communities except Vallejo will also receive their official vote-by-mail ballot for the Nov. 8 election in the same envelope as their sample ballot booklet.

“This consolidated mailing saves postage and gives vote-by-mail voters all the information the Registrar’s Office provides in one envelope,” said Assistant Registrar of Voters Lindsey McWilliams.

McWilliams said the sample ballot in Vallejo includes two local ballot measures with lengthy text, analysis and arguments.  Due to document sizes and weights, the sample ballot had to be mailed separately from the vote-by-mail ballots.

“The sample ballot is the voter’s first source for information they need to know about the election,” McWilliams said. “Besides containing candidate statements and important election details, the back cover has the voter's polling place, name and address.”

Some polling places have changed since last November for the 89 polling locations in this election. The back of the sample ballot is the best place for voters to look for polling place information.  Starting Oct. 11, voters will be able to look up their polling place and sample ballot online by going to the county website at www.solanocounty.com/voter and clicking on “November 8, 2011 Consolidated Districts Election.”

The last day to register for this election is Monday, Oct. 24. The last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot to be mailed out to voters is Tuesday, Nov. 1.
