Reminder: San Mateo Bridge Closures This Weekend

The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will close entirely for two weekends in October.

The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will close entirely for two weekends in October.

Caltrans will close the bridge the weekends of Oct. 19-22, and Oct. 26-29, to allow crews to install a new seismic joint and replace 60 feet of the bridge deck just east of the high rise.

The full closure of all eastbound and westbound lanes will begin at 10 p.m. Friday of those weekends and continue until 5 a.m. the following Monday, opening in time for the weekday commute.

During the closures, commuters are asked to use alternate routes including the Dumbarton Bridge, San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, or the southern route along Highway 237.

On the eastbound side (Foster City) the on-ramp from Edgewater Boulevard and Metro Center Boulevard will be closed. On the westbound side (Hayward) the on-ramp from Industrial Boulevard and Clawiter Road will be closed. All off-ramps will remain open.

Mainline traffic will be guided to exit eastbound 92 at Foster City Boulevard and westbound 92 at Clawiter Road. One westbound lane may be closed as early as 11 a.m. on Friday.

Changeable message signs will be posted throughout the Bay Area to notify motorist of the upcoming closures.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher

Thanks for the post Dean. The Dixon VFW has contributed several thousand dollars so far to bothRead More homes in Dixon and will be contributing a lot more in the future for these Vets. The housing program is managed by the North Bay Coummity Action Council (formerly known as the Fairfield/Suisun CAC). The Vets are very grateful for all the community support.
