Morning View Studio's Target Opening Date Bumped Back 10 Months

The target opening date has been moved back 10 months, from January 2015 to October 2015.

Morning View's Carissa Carpenter briefed me on the current status of the film studio project Thursday night. I wasn't able to put a proper story together right away, but here are the major takeaways:

  • The target opening date has been moved back 10 months, from January 2015 to October 2015.
  • Early delays (read about them here) have made it too hard to finish the project in time, Carpenter said. Purchase agreements are being signed. Next will be escrow and entitlements, and then construction, City Manager Jim Lindley recently told us.
  • When escrow starts (likely in a few weeks), $100,000 will be handed over to the City of Dixon to cover the costs of rezoning and other work.
  • There was a specific project tied to the January 2015 date. That project, according to The Dixon Tribune, will now wait until October 2015.

We'll continue to cover this story closely. Due to a hectic schedule, we weren't able to put a proper story together this time. Brianna Boyd's story in the Dixon Tribune goes into much more detail, so you should check it out. (Scroll down the page to find the story).

Carpenter also said that Lindley was interviewed by the Sacramento Bee. We'll add a link when that article shows up.
