Local Election Candidates' Open Forums Begin Monday

Dixon Chamber of Commerce will host series of open forums for candidates and Measure N through Oct. 18

The Dixon District Chamber of Commerce will host a series of candidates’ open forums beginning Sept. 10 through Oct. 18.

Organized by the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee, the forums will offer the public a chance to get to know the candidates and learn more about the measures on the November ballot.

The open forums are scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall, 600 East A Street.

Monday, Sept. 10: Candidates for California Assembly and California State Senate will be featured.

Wednesday, Sept. 19: Speakers for and against Measure N.

Thursday, Oct. 18: 

Each attending candidate will have a five-minute opening statement. The order will be determined by lottery. During the break, written questions prepared by the Governmental Affairs Committee will be asked of each candidate, who will have up to two-minutes to respond. Following this portion, written questions submitted by the audience will be asked of each candidate.

Following the completion of these questions, each candidate will be able to answer oral questions directly from the audience. Each candidate will be given up to two-minutes to respond. No questions deemed “personal” will be allowed.

The forum will end with a three-minute closing speech from each candidate in reverse order of the opening remarks.

Invitation notices will be sent to each candidate and speakers for Measure N.

All interested citizens and business representatives are encouraged to attend.
