On Thursday Dixon Mayor Jack Batchelor, along with Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA), a former Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, joined Solano County transportation officials at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Interstate 80 (I-80) Cordelia Truck Scales Relocation Project.

The project will rebuild and relocate the existing eastbound Cordelia Truck Scales on Interstate 80 (I-80), in Solano County. Additionally, the project will include a 4-lane bridge across the Suisun Creek and feature braided ramps from the new truck scale facility. This project will reduce congestion, facilitate  goods movement, and improve the reliability of the system.

“This project is a win-win-win for Solano County and Northern California,” said Congressman John Garamendi. “Drivers will experience reduced traffic congestion and commute times, helping them get to their work and homes faster and safer. The I-80 Cordelia Truck Scales Relocation Project will also help expedite goods movement for Northern California, by enabling commodities and goods to move with more efficiency from the Central Valley and Sierra Nevada’s to the Bay Area and beyond.  All the while, strengthening the competitiveness of local businesses and most importantly, creating badly needed construction jobs for the region.”

Garamendi added, “Even in our hi-tech era, a strong transportation system is absolutely essential to economic growth. We have to Make It In America, and move it, if America is going to make it.”
