Dixon to Say Goodbye to Outgoing Council Members, Swear in Newcomers

Dixon's mayor will return for another term, while two new council members will be sworn in.

The Dixon City Council will say goodbye to two council members Monday night, and will welcome two more the following evening.

Outgoing Council Members Michael Ceremello, Jr., and Rick Fuller will be celebrated at a special meeting Monday at City Hall. Outgoing City Treasurer James Slaughter will also be honored.

Ceremello ran unsuccesfully for mayor, while Fuller did not run for reelection.

They'll be honored with a reception with light refreshments at 5 p.m., and formal recognition during a special council meeting at 6 p.m.

A day later, the Dixon City Council will swear in its returning mayor and two new council members.

Mayor Jack Batchelor, Jr., was reelected in November, while Steven Bird and Jerry Castanon won seats on the council. They'll take the oath of office just after the 7 p.m. start of Tuesday's meeting.

Also at Tuesday's meeting, the council will select the new vice mayor and discuss possible changes to the city's two-year safe-and-sane fireworks pilot program–check back for more information on that topic.
