Updated: Dixon Public Library Trustees to Decide Fate of Library Commission

A public hearing is set for Thursday, Jan. 26, that will center on the possible dissolution of the Library Commission

It’s a commission that oversees the day-to-day operations of the , but as of late it seems to have lost its way.

Now the Dixon Unified School District Board of Trustees, which also acts as the library trustees, will be holding a public hearing to consider the dissolution of the five-member library commission.

Earlier this month, the library trustees held a special meeting in which several members of the community addressed the board concerning the library commission, both pro and con.

At that meeting the trustees voted to begin the dissolution process, 3-1 with trustee Herb Cross dissenting and new trustee Guy Garcia non present, which calls for a public hearing so that the board can gather as much public input as possible before making a decision.

The meeting is set for Thursday, Jan. 26, 6:30 p.m., inside the chambers of the Dixon City Council, 600 East A Street.
