Dixon City Council Accepts Employment Contracts, Rejects Anti-Blight Ordinance

The Dixon City Council rejected an anti-blight ordinance and accepted employment contracts at last night's city council meeting

The Dixon City Council, with newcomer Thom Bogue sitting on the dais, voted to acknowledge a previous vote that accepted five of the seven memorandum of understandings and compensation plans that the city negotiated with its employees' unions.

The vote was almost unanimous with Councilman Michael Ceremello providing the lone nay vote. The City Council also voted 'no' on a resolution that would hold banks and homeowners responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of abandoned properties within the city limits.

Bogue, Ceremello and Councilman Dane Besneatte voted against the proposed ordinance; Mayor Jack Batchelor and Councilman Rick Fuller voted for it.
