The accolades for the showcase of Solano County’s agriculture at the California State Fair continue to roll in. Fairgoers declared the Solano County exhibit their favorite once again, earning the county the People’s Choice Award for the 10th consecutive year.
“Solano County has a great story to tell when it comes to our rich agriculture heritage and what our farmers are bringing to market today. Fairgoers liked how we told that story in a fun and memorable way,” said Bob Meador, project manager for the exhibit.
The main feature of the exhibit was a classic walk-through barn transformed into country farm stand filled with fruits and vegetables grown in Solano County. As is the tradition for Solano County, the exhibit integrated a learning environment with whimsical characters, abundant memorabilia, twinkling lights, and animated displays.
On opening day of the state fair, the judges announced the Solano County 2012 exhibit won its seventh Best of Show Award and its 12th consecutive Gold Award. The exhibit also won the Craftsmanship Award.
This win brings the County’s award tally for its exhibits up to 65 major awards over the past 13 years.
