Worker Killed at Construction Site Identified as Fairfield Man
The worker who fell to his death Tuesday at a residential construction site in San Mateo has been identified as 54-year-old Elias Vera of Fairfield, according to the San Mateo County coroner's office.
San Mateo Deputy Fire Chief John Healy said Vera died at the scene despite life-saving measures by paramedics.

The accident was reported at 3:40 p.m. at the site of the former Bay Meadows racetrack in the 2900 block of McCown Avenue.
Vera landed on his head after falling 15 feet from the top of a wall during construction of a townhouse building, according to San Mateo police.
The construction site is run by TRI Pointe Homes, which has a sales office at 401 Mahoney Way in San Mateo.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the incident, according to Cal/OSHA spokesman Greg Siggins.
