Volunteer Firefighters Raise Funds for Community Activities With Sell Out Prawn Feed

The Dixon Volunteer Firefighters Association hosted a sell out prawn feed fundraiser last night, raising money for Dixon Fire to continue involvement in community activities such as the Downtown Halloween trick-or-treat and Christmas Tree lighting.

Dixon's fire engines were parked outside of the apparatus bay last night, in order to host a sell out prawn feed fundraiser.

The annual event, hosted by the Dixon Volunteer Fire Association, raises funds to enable Dixon Fire to continue to be active in the community. The association supports passing out candy and treats at the Downtown Dixon Halloween trick-or-treat and the annual Christmas tree lighting, as well as, hosting fire prevention day festivities and other outreach.

With the maximum of 275 tickets being sold, the dinner is being called one of the best attended in years.

"Last night was a well attended and everyone seemed to have a good time," said
volunteer Dixon firefighter and association president, Dave Horigan, "On behalf of the Dixon Volunteer Firefighter's Association, I would like to thank our community & friends for supporting us."

Horigan explained that, this year, the organizers added a few new things that proved very profitable, including a silent auction and the convenience of credit card processing.

Although revenues and expenses have not been tallied, the group anticipates great success.
