Vallejo Man Shot During Struggle with Deputies Attempting to Serve Warrant

Terrel Elbert, 22, was shot once in the upper body while deputies were executing an arrest warrant at a Vallejo home.

By Bay City News Service

A Vallejo man was shot Sunday afternoon while allegedly struggling with police as officers attempted to serve a warrant on another man.

Solano County Sheriff's Deputies were attempting to serve a warrant on 24-year-old Vallejo resident Justin Razle around 1 p.m. at a home on the 900 block of Pine Street, according to Lt. Gary Faulkner.

They encountered Terrel Elbert, 22, as he tried to leave the residence in his car, and ordered him out of his car at gunpoint.

Elbert allegedly grabbed one of the deputies' guns, and was shot once in the upper body during the struggle. He was able to drive away, however, and escaped capture after crashing his car into the deputies' patrol
car, Faulkner said.

He was picked up a short time later after police received a call reporting that he was at an apartment on the 200 block of Larissa Drive, and in need of medical attention. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Elbert, while not the man that the deputies were seeking to serve a warrant on, had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest, Faulkner said.

The warrant was served on Razle and he was arrested without incident.
