Three Robberies in One Day: Suspects Still At Large

Armed robbers struck three times on Friday in Dixon.

The city of Dixon saw three armed robberies in four hours on Friday, and police haven't yet been able to locate the suspects.

"We’re following up on some leads but so far nothing has panned out yet," Dixon Police Lt. Ron Willingmyre said.

The first of the three robberies, which were blogged about by a Dixon Patch reader, was around 6 p.m., and took place on the Parkgreen Drive side of Northwest Park. A wallet and a cell phone were taken by two suspects described as Hispanic males in their 20s, according to a Dixon Police Department crime log. One was armed with a black, semi-automatic gun, had a goatee and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Three hours later, suspects with the same description struck again in the same location. This time, they stole a backpack, police say.

An hour later, just after 10 p.m., suspects with the same description robbed again at North Washington and West A streets, the crime log states. This time, they got away with a backpack bearing a Ford logo, a cell phone, a netbook computer and an iPod Nano.

In the third robbery, the armed suspect was described as having a shaved head and wearing blue jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

"We belive they are related," Willingmyre said of the three robberies. He urged residents to be aware of their surroundings when walking, to try to stay in well-lit areas and to not walk with electronics in-hand.
