Three Arrested for Robbing Vacaville Jewelry Store With Handguns & Hammers

Vacaville police arrested three suspects this morning on suspicion of committing an armed robbery at a jewelry store, a police sergeant said.

The robbery involved at least six men wielding a handgun and hammers, Sgt. Jeff King said.

Police began receiving 911 calls at 10:59 a.m. about a robbery at the DeBartolo Jewelry Store at 529 Main St. in Vacaville, King said.

Witnesses said as many as six masked men got out of a black Dodge Magnum with a California license plate 6NKP418 that was parked on Main Street, King said.

Witnesses said the six men were carrying duffel bags and hammers as they entered the store, and one suspect was armed with a handgun, according to police.

The suspects confronted the only employee in the store and smashed glass displays as one suspect held the store employee at gunpoint, King said.

They escaped with stolen merchandise in the Dodge Magnum, King said. The suspects were described as black men approximately 6 feet tall and wearing dark colored or black clothing.

A Vacaville police officer spotted the suspects' vehicle on westbound Interstate Highway 80 in Fairfield, King said.

The officer notified the California Highway Patrol, which then stopped the Dodge around 11:20 a.m. just east of American Canyon Road in American Canyon, CHP Officer Chris Parker said.

Vacaville police detectives arrested Adrian Landers and Derrick McCann, both 18 of San Francisco, and a 16-year-old male juvenile from San Francisco, King said.

The adults were booked in the Solano County jail for armed robbery and the juvenile was booked on the same charge in juvenile hall, King said.

Three other suspects who escaped in a black Dodge Charger are still at large, Parker said.
