“It is important to remember the monetary costs of graffiti to citizens and the City,” stated a Dixon Police Department press release. “Graffiti found on public property hurts everyone’s pocket books. Graffiti in a neighborhood park, on a powerbox, on government buildings, and on school property costs the community, citizens, and school districts thousands of dollars to clean up.”

The department said that most graffiti happens during late or early morning hours, normally under the cover of darkness.

“Graffiti vandals are difficult to catch and prosecute if no one reports them,” stated the release. “Suspicious activity occurs when a person’s conduct does not fit the norm of your neighborhood.”

Anyone who sees graffiti activity or other suspicious behavior is asked to contact the police department at 707-678-7080.

If an emergency arises, call 911, the police said. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can call the Solano County Crime Stoppers tip line at 707-644-STOP (7867). All calls are anonymous and confidential.

A reward for up to $1000 may be paid for information that leads to an arrest.
