On Sept. 8, Andrews wrote the following note to Dixon Patch: “Been going through a lot let alone still very much healing and dealing with pain and the loss of my 2 very best friends.  I don’t know if you still want to hear my story but I'm finally ready to talk especially with my friends b-day right around the corner.”

But a meeting never took place. Subsequent calls and messages to Andrews were not returned.

The accident took place on the night of Saturday, May 7. Police say that Andrews was following friends and driving a 1995 Saturn sedan south on Highway 99 in Sutter County. Gaona and Silva were Andrews’ passengers.

Andrews attempted to make a left turn onto Nicolaus Avenue, but went directly into the path of a 2005 GMC Yukon that was traveling north on Highway 99, being driven by Yuba City resident Amber Klugh, 28.

The collision instantly killed Gaona, a popular Dixon teenager who was known throughout the community for his sense of humor and his skills as a rapper. Silva, who was also a beloved member of the Dixon community, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at Sutter Roseville Hospital.

Andrews also sustained major injuries during the crash including a punctured lung and lacerated liver.

The CHP investigated the crash and sent the case over to the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office on Sept. 27. The district attorney in Sutter County has yet to assign a deputy to handle the case.
