The Fairfield Police Department has identified two suspects who were shot by authorities Thursday afternoon in separate incidents.

Around 2:45 p.m. Fairfield officers and a team of federal agents confronted an attempted homicide suspect, 27-year-old Fairfield resident Markell Davis, behind a Walmart Supercenter at 2701 North Texas St., according to Fairfield Police Officer Cleo Mayoral.

Davis, who was armed with a handgun, was shot during the confrontation, Mayoral said.

Police said that Davis was wanted in connection with a shooting in the 2000 block of Claybank Road in Fairfield on Feb. 17.

Davis also has a criminal history including burglary and narcotic sales, and is on active county probation, according to police.

About 30 minutes later, Fairfield police confronted a second suspect, 33-year-old Cory Davis, of Suisun City, also wanted for attempted murder, across the street at the Bennington Apartments at 2780 North Texas St., Mayoral said.

Police said Cory was wanted in connection with a shooting in Vacaville on Feb. 19. He also has a criminal history, according to police.

Cory, who was also armed, was also shot, Mayoral said.

The conditions of Markell and Cory, who are relatives, were not immediately available.

No officers were injured in either incident. The U.S. Marshals Office and FBI Safe Streets Task Force assisted Fairfield police.
