This morning at 3:02, Dixon Police Department was dispatched to an Agency Outside Assist for CHP regarding a report of a male hanging from the freeway crossing.
Dixon PD responded, arriving on scene within a couple minutes.Upon arrival, officers encountered Matthew Cordell, 41, who was a Parolee at Large and had recently committed an Assault with a Deadly Weapon the day before. Cordell was distraught, refused to come off the railing, and appeared to be suicidal.
A dialogue was established by Dixon PD and eventually transferred to the Solano Hostage Negotiations Team (HNT). Both lanes of I-80 were closed with the help of the CHP and Dixon Fire staged on Scene.After approximately two hours of negotiations, Cordell agreed to finally come down off the overhead railings and was taken into custody without incident. Cordell was booked at County Jail on an outstanding, No Bail warrant, for his arrest, for previous parole violation with other charges pending.

Dioxn Patch Police Log for December 12, 2011, showed an arrest for Cordell who was then a resident of Santa Rosa, as a Parolee at Large who was taken to Solano County Jail.
