Police received a medical call around 7:45 a.m. about a 71-year-old woman who wasn't breathing, Weaver said. The caller said he believed the woman was deceased, Weaver said.

The Vallejo Fire Department responded to a residence in the 800 block of Springs Road and discovered Chambers' body, Weaver said.

Emergency personnel saw evidence the death was not a medical call and police then responded to the apartment, Weaver said.

Detectives were still collecting evidence this afternoon, Weaver said. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

The murder is Vallejo's second this year, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the slaying to call Detective Raul Munoz or Detective Drew Ramsey at (800) 488-9383.
