Solano Sheriff SWAT Team Trains at FBI-Run Event
The Sacramento office of the FBI on Wednesday held its fifth-annual training for SWAT teams from around the region.
Bombings, hostage situations and injured officers: These are scenarios no police department wants to deal with, but must be ready for.
More than 350 officers from 22 SWAT teams from the northern California region gathered at the Northern California Public Safety Training Center at the former McClellan Air Force Base Wednesday for an annual training session run by the FBI.
"Any time we can learn a better tactic, improve our tactics or change something that's due to technology or different ways people interact, it's beter so we can keep abreast of all the current trends," Fairfield Police Sgt. Jausiah Jacobsen said.
FBI Special Agent Brian Jones said trainings like Wednesday's are especially important because most SWAT teams are part-time and "training time is at a premium."
He said officials change the training each year, and have added bombing trainings and events to allow SWAT teams to practice operations in the dark.
The SWAT teams that participated in the training Wednesday were:

- Federal Bureau of Investigation
- Folsom Police Department
- Lodi Police Department
- Placer County Sheriff’s Office
- Rocklin Police Department/Roseville Police Department
