Solano County Coroner Releases Name of Bicyclist Killed While Riding Along Highway 113

Bicyclist Robert White, 57, of Ryde was killed in a tragic auto accident along Highway 113 Sunday afternoon, the cause of the accident remains under investigation

The Solano County Coroner's Office released the name of the bicyclist who was killed Sunday while riding his bike along Highway 113 near Cook Lane in Dixon.

Robert White, 57, of Ryde (unincorporated Sacramento County) was killed instantly when he was hit from behind by Orange resident Taylor Boe, 21, according to the California Highway Patrol. Both men were driving north along the highway, White in a Diamonback Sorrento mountain bike and Boe in a 2003 Hyndai Tiburon.

The accident took place around 1:59 p.m., Sunday; the Dixon Fire Department arrived on the scene but could not save White's life. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

White wore a helmet, according to the fire department, and the cause of the accident is under investigation. Police said that Boe was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the wreck.

The CHP however said that they are talking to witnesses, who told them earlier that Boe was driving either at or just above the speed limit of 55 miles per hour. Boe was on his way to meet with family in Vacaville at the time of the accident according to the CHP.

Meanwhile, White's family is attempting to come to terms with the loss of their loved one.

White's daughter, Sonoma resident Angela White, wrote on the pages of Dixon Patch: "He was always careful when he rode his bike, he loved doing it and should be able to ride his bike wherever he wants, as we all should. Drivers are too busy doing everything else but driving these days, this was completely avoidable and now my father is gone. I will never be the same."

We will continue to follow this story as it develops. Please continue logging on for updates.

Anyone who witnessed this accident in encouraged to contact the CHP at (707) 428-2100.

Robert was a very close family member and we are devastated about losing him! I have known him since I was 13 years old and now I am 40. I live in NY and when I got the phone call Sunday night, I haven't stopped thinking and crying about it since. He was a wonderful, caring, giving, funny, respectful guy (I can't say enough about him) he will be missed soooooo much. Angela, I can't even imagine what you are going through and we are all here for you. I wish it wasn't his time because he had so much life to live. He was going to visit me in NY :o( I will never forget the wonderful memories I have of him and all that he has done for me over the years. I love you Bob!!! xxooxox Mandy

Angela, I haven't been back on to check on this story since I last commented. I looked today to see if there were any updates as far as what has happened with the investigation or if any charges were brought against the driver of the car. From what I have seen, there haven't been any articles about the accident since it happened. I wouldn't mind talking to you at all. I don't feel comfortable posting my contact information on here though. If you have an idea of how we can make contact, let me know. I drive that road a few times a week and think of your dad every single time. I am so sorry for your loss and all that you have had to deal with. I wish there was something I could have done to help him.

Didn't O'Reilly's just close on the other side of town? There's a 'for lease' sign on the building.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher

Thanks for the post Dean. The Dixon VFW has contributed several thousand dollars so far to bothRead More homes in Dixon and will be contributing a lot more in the future for these Vets. The housing program is managed by the North Bay Coummity Action Council (formerly known as the Fairfield/Suisun CAC). The Vets are very grateful for all the community support. One project we are trying to get funding or donations for is we need approximately 50 cubic yards ofRead More top soil to even out the back and side yards and bring them up even with the patio in the back.

Hi Dean. Come to the next VFW meeting. I'm sure the members will support this. You might want toRead More get an estimate from Dixon Landscape Materials for a fill dirt load.
