Sex Videos and More Possible Victims Surface; Hensley Hearing Continued Another Month

More than 30,000 pages, 16 gigabytes, of phone records have revealed more possible victims, witnesses and sex tapes in the sex with a minor case against Dixon suspect and Ex-Sports Coach Troy Hensley. Preliminary hearing rescheduled for next month.

Editor's note: a previous version of this story carried an incorrect deck headline. Troy Hensley is being charged with unlawful sex with a minor.

A prepared prosecution team entered a Yolo County courtroom this morning, ready to begin the preliminary hearing for the sex with a minor case against former Dixon High School JV Football coach Troy Hensley. The defense, however, was not and asked to have the case continued.

Hensley's attorney, Steve Sabbadini, plead his position of unpreparedness to Judge Dave Rosenburg, who grudgingly allowed the continuance, noting the importance of not wasting the courts time.

Hensley, his wife and two other women followed Sabbadini into Yolo County Courtroom, Department Four, just after 8:30 a.m., Monday morning. Hensley held several reams of paper, which would be later explained as more than 30,000 pages [16g] of texts, iChats, and SMS messages including videos and photographs collected from three phones used during the duration of the alleged relationship between Hensley and the victim. Sabbadini stated the records had been received from the prosecution too late for him to have time to review.

"It is clear there was a sexual relationship between these two," explained Sabbadinni, "Number one, was there any type of sexual relationship before she was 18, and number two, it is critical to the defense that these [records] be reviewed because there are complaints that there were threats between January and April of this year... the first few pages I read paint a different picture."

District Attorney Deanna Hayes maintained that the phone records collected by the prosecution were found during their ongoing investigation, where they have also found more victims and more witnesses.

"We will continue to investigate throughout this trial, these records will not be used for the preliminary hearing," Hayes said, "the people object to the continuance, we have been ready to go to trial since the day Mr. Hensley was arrested."

Hayes stated that the records collected contained sex videos captured by Hensley during the relationship.

It was noted that the victim has plans to move away for college in August, and had motioned for the right to a speedy trial. She will now have to be flown back for the new preliminary hearing date scheduled for Aug. 26, at 8:30 a.m.

Charges against Hensley include 26 felonies including: unlawful sex with a minor, oral copulation, sexual penetration with a foreign object with a person under 18 and threatening a crime with intent to terrorize, he has been released on $450,000 bail.
