Rural Dixon Fire Damages Home

The Dixon Fire Department responded to a fire this morning along Silveyville Road, saved the home from destruction.

Flames ripped through a rural Dixon home this morning. A quick response by Dixon firefighters saved the building from complete destruction.

The call came into the station at 3:30 a.m. The homeowner was coming home from work and called 911 after noticing that her home on the 5500 block of Silveyville Road was on fire, Dixon Fire Division Chief Ron Karlen said.

"We arrived on scene and the fire was pushing out of a window," Dixon Fire Capt. Dean Sarley said. "In one of the rooms we made an interior fire attack after forcing some doors to get access to the fire rooms. We probably put the fire under control within five minutes of the arrival and it probably took another hour to overhaul the building."

No one was inside the three-bedroom home at the time of the fire; no injuries were reported. Flames damaged one of the rooms, another room had smoke and heat damage, and the third room was not damaged, Sarley said.

Fire investigators suspect the fire began in the wall and was electrical in nature. Flames caused $20,000 or more of damage to the home.
