One person was killed this morning when a vehicle veered off of a rural road and into an orchard about eight miles north of Vacaville in Solano County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP responded at 6:53 a.m. today to a call about a vehicle in an orchard off of Pleasants Valley Road near Putah Creek Road and the Lake Solano Recreational Park.
Officers arrived to see smoke coming out of the disabled vehicle with one person confirmed dead, the CHP said.
The Solano County Coroner's Office and Sheriff's Department has taken over the investigation into the fatal crash, according to the CHP.
