Motorcyclist Dies In Head-On Crash Sunday

A 26-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Vacaville on Sunday, police said. He was identified by the Solano County coroner's office as Richard Kirkpatrick of Vacaville.

Kirkpatrick was riding a 2014 Harley Davidson north in the 1800 block of East Monte Vista Avenue around 3 p.m. when he drove on the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a 2014 Honda CRV, Vacaville police Officer James Smith said.

Kirkpatrick was ejected onto the roadway, and despite life-saving efforts by a passerby and police and fire units, he died at the scene, Smith said.

The 79-year-old Honda driver, a Vacaville resident, was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, Smith said.

There were three fatal vehicle collisions, two involving motorcycles, in the North Bay over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, authorities said.
