Solano Inmate Dies After Complaining of Back Pain

Harry Terwilliger, 51, complained of back pain before being sent to hospital.

Information from Solano County Sheriff:

Harry Terwilliger, a 51-year-old Fairfield resident, died today from medical complications at the Northbay Medical Center in Fairfield.  He has been an inmate at the Solano County Jail since August 10, 2011.

On Friday, June 22, 2012, Mr. Terwilliger complained to jail staff that he was experiencing back pains.  He was examined by medical staff at the jail and moved into the medical wing of the facility, where he could be more closely monitored.  On Friday afternoon, Mr. Terwilliger was seen by a doctor in the medical wing for his complaints of back pain.

On Saturday, June 23, 2012, Mr. Terwilliger complained to jail medical staff that he was feeling worse, and it was determined that he should be transported to the Northbay Medical Center for further medical treatment.

Mr. Terwilliger was transferred to their Intensive Care Unit, where he was pronounced dead today from unknown medical complications.

Per Department protocol, Mr. Terwilliger’s body was transported to the Sacramento County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be scheduled to be performed.

There is no indication that Mr. Terwilliger was the victim of any type of criminal act. This death is under investigation by the Solano County Coroner’s Office.
