I-80 Between Davis and Dixon Among CHP's Top Spots to Catch Speeders

California Highway Patrol officers shared with News10 some of the places they like to lurk.

Getting on Interstate 80 anytime soon? Better mind the speed limit.

The California Highway Patrol opened up to News10 reporters this week about where officers like to patrol for speeding drivers, and I-80 between Davis and Dixon was among the hotspots.

CHP officers told News10 they target areas where drivers are tempted to speed—such as where a highway opens up from a smaller to a larger number of lanes. Going 10 to 15 miles per hour over the speed limit can cost you a $200 ticket; the price for speeding by more than 15 miles per hour can reach more than $300, according to News10.

Officers' very favorite spot to catch speeders is the truck scales on I-80 near Antelope Road, where it's common to see drivers hit 100 miles per hour, a CHP spokesperson told News10.
