Fire on Wednesday in Fairfield Possibly Started by Illegal Fireworks

Firefighters quickly put out a fire that may have been started by illegal fireworks in Fairfield on Wednesday evening, fire officials said.

Fire crews responded to a report of a tree on fire in the area of Quail Drive and Benet Court around 6:30 p.m., according to fire officials.

The fire burned through vegetation around a home and gusty winds caused the flames to spread to neighboring yards, fire officials said.

Two homes and its exterior landscaping sustained damage from the fire, fire officials said.

Rain gutters at both homes filled with organic materials were also damaged as well as many mature palm trees, according to fire officials.

Firefighters were able to stop the blaze from spreading into any structures. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
