A woman suspected of burglary and vandalism was shot in the hand by a Fairfield police officer during a struggle Wednesday night, a police lieutenant said.
Police believe the woman was involved in a residential burglary and vandalism in Fairfield on Monday, Lt. Joe Allio said. Two police officers tried to contact her as she sat in her black BMW in a parking lot at The Pointe Apartments at 2550 Hilborn Road around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, Allio said.
One officer was standing by the vehicle's passenger window and the other was near the driver's window, Allio said. The woman first started backing up, and there was a struggle as the woman then drove forward, police said.
