Fairfield Man, 65, Convicted For Trying To Have Sex With 15-Year-Old Girl

A 65-year-old Fairfield man has been convicted of trying to arrange a sexual meeting with a 15-year-old girl in Monterey County, prosecutors said.

Donald Threatt answered a Craigslist posting on Oct. 12, 2013, and started an email exchange with whom he thought was a 15-year-old girl, asking to have sex with the girl and trying to arrange a meeting.

But he did not realize that the "girl" was actually Monterey County sheriff's Sgt. Bryan Hoskins, who was attempting to lure in sexual predators as part of "Operation Mama Bear," according to the district attorney's office.

Threatt was convicted Wednesday of arranging a meeting with a minor for a lewd purpose and going to a meeting with a minor for a lewd purpose and will be sentenced on June 3.

He faces a maximum sentence of four years and four months in state prison and will have to register as a sex offender for life, prosecutors said.
