A minimum-security inmate who escaped from a conservation camp in
Solano County Sunday night was captured in Rio Vista late Thursday night, the
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said this afternoon.

Nathan Simpson, 30, was captured by special agents from the CDCR
and arrested around 10 p.m. and taken to California State Prison-Solano in
Vacaville, the department said in a statement.

Simpson will be transferred to the California Correctional Center
in Susanville, according to a spokesman at the Susanville facility.

Further details about his capture were not immediately available,
the spokesman said. Simpson was last seen at the Delta Conservation Camp CC#8 east of Suisun City on Lambie Road near state Highway 12 around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

He was sentenced in May 2010 for vehicle theft and had prior
convictions in Siskiyou County, according to the CDCR. He was scheduled to be paroled this September but will serve additional time for the escape, California Correctional Center spokeswoman Margaret Pieper said earlier this week.

Convicts sentenced to less than seven years in prison are eligible
to be transferred to a conservation camp after they have served 12 months in
prison, Pieper said.

They are trained and certified to perform clean-up operations at the conservation camps, Pieper said.
