Emeryville Man, 60, ID'd as Victim in Friday Crash on Napa/Solano County Line

This marked the fourth fatal accident -- totalling five deaths -- this week in Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties.

A 65-year-old Emeryville man was killed in a solo crash on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 near American Canyon on the Napa-Solano County border Friday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The driver and only occupant of a 1997 Subaru Legacy was heading east on I-80 near American Canyon Road around 9:15 a.m. when he suddenly braked and swerved to the left, CHP Officer Chris Parker said.

The vehicle overturned after he crashed into the center divide, Parker said. The man was wearing his seatbelt, but the impact of the crash ejected him out of the restraint and he was pronounced dead inside the car, Parker said.

One eastbound lane was closed for more than an hour following the crash, Parker said.

The driver's identity will be released after his family is notified, according to the Solano County coroner's office.

Within Solano, Napa and Sonoma counties, this Friday morning accident in the American Canyon area is the fourth fatal crash this week.

A Napa Woman, 26, was killed Tuesday in a head-on crash on Silverado Trail, that sent two others to the hospital.

And a Healdsburg woman, 50, died in a solo-vehicle crash Wednesday near Geyserville.

On Saturday, a Rohnert Park man, 30, rear-ended a car, killing two women in the back seat and was arrested for suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI.
