Dixon Firefighters Headed Out to Battle as the Mountain of the Devil Spews Fire

Dixon fire crews spent yesterday battling a fire in Sonoma County, and a new strike team left early this morning to join the Morgan fire fight on Mount Diablo.

If you look south from Dixon, you'll see a clear mushroom of smoke erupting from the inferno on the Mountain of the Devil, Mount Diablo.

Dixon fire crews headed out of town again in the wee hours of Monday, joining the 700 fire personnel now battling what is being called the Morgan Fire.

Sparks began less than 24-hours ago, and have already consumed 1,500 acres in Contra Costa County – as of this morning the incident is considered 10% contained.

In other fire news, a Solano task force, lead by Dixon Fire Chief Aaron McAlister, was also deployed this weekend. The crew joined the half-day fight in the Sonoma County blaze that consumed six structures, 40 acres, 10 recreational vehicles and factory equipment. Here's the full Sonoma Valley Patch coverage of the incident there.
