Deputy in Last Week's American Canyon Raid Scores New Bulletproof Vest!

(P.S. Deputy is a dog.)

Napa County Sheriff's Office K-9 Deputy "Nash" -- fresh off a raid in American Canyon (story here) -- is the beneficiary of a new bulletproof vest, thanks to a donation by St. Helena Veterinary Hospital vet tech Nadya Sinan.

Nash, who works with partner Deputy Jon Thompson, actually received the K-9 Armor vest for Thompson'sbirthday, said K-9 Armor co-founder Suzanne Saunders.

"Nash recently helped with the raid in American Canyon ... and now he is protected with a bulletproof vest," Saunders said. "What an amazing present to give to the deputy who depends on his furry partner with his life."

In addition to the animal hospital's Sinan's donation for Nash, Dr. Gold and his wife of the vet clinic also donated a vest for St. Helena Police Department's K-9 cop Djino, she said.

K-9 Armor accepts donations to give bulletproof vests-- which run about $875 -- to California police dogs.
