Deputies Hope Homicide Victim's Tattoo Will Lead To His Identity

The man's body was discovered last week during a fire at a grapevine nursery in Solano County outside Vacaville.

The Solano County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying a man's body discovered burning in a shed just outside of Vacaville in unincorporated Solano County early Wednesday morning.

Deputies received a 911 call just after 3 a.m. on Wednesday, reporting a structure fire in the 6700 block of Pleasants Valley Road in the vicinity of the grapevine nursery Mercier, Solano County sheriff's Deputy Daryl Snedeker said.

Firefighters and sheriff's deputies responded to the scene and found a storage shed, with items stacked next to it, fully engulfed in flames, Snedeker said.

While extinguishing the blaze, firefighters found the body of a partially burned man located at the scene, according to Snedeker.

Solano County sheriff's detectives are investigating the man's death as a homicide and are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the body.

According to deputies, the body is that of a white or Hispanic man, with several tattoos. However, due to the burned condition of the man's body, many of his tattoos are not identifiable.

Deputies released a sketch of a large tattoo on the victim's back in hopes of finding someone who recognizes it and can help identify him.

The tattoo is an image of a dog smoking either a cigar or a pipe with words written between his shoulders at the base of his neck, deputies said.

Anyone who may know the identity of the victim or information about the homicide is asked to contact the Solano County Sheriff's Office investigations bureau at (707) 784-7050 or Solano County Sheriff's Office dispatch at (707) 421-7090.

Callers may remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (707) 644-7867.
