Crews Contain Blaze Sparked By Downed Power Lines

Fire crews have contained a 5-acre grass fire in unincorporated Vacaville this afternoon, a fire official said.

The five-alarm fire was reported at 12:36 p.m. on English Hill Road near Star View Lane.

Firefighters from the Vacaville Fire Protection District, Cal Fire and other Solano County agencies responded and helped to contain the fire by about 2 p.m., said Doug Rogers, deputy chief of the Vacaville Fire Protection
District.

No one was injured in the blaze, which briefly threatened four structures but did not destroy any, Rogers said.

"The wind obviously was a huge factor," he said. "We had some difficulty getting ahead of it."

Rogers said a preliminary investigation indicates that downed power lines may have sparked the fire.
