Brush Fire Near Hay Road Landfill Reported July 4th Afternoon By Reader!

Local fire crews also fighting other Solano County blazes.

A vegetation fire was reported -- and photographed (thanks!) -- by a Dixon Patch reader this afternoon -- July 4th -- in the landfill area at Hay Road and Highway 113 in Vacaville.

The Solano County Fire agency reported on Twitter that the fire covered 1,000 square feet as of approximately 5 p.m.

Reader "Yarbrough Orphan Dale" said the blaze started on the south side of Hay Road at about 3:10 p.m. and has since "jumped" to north side.

And ... a hay stack fire with billowing smoke was reported at 5:13 p.m. at Liberty and Swan roads by the Solano fire officials.

In other news, a fire was also reported today in the Bird's Landing area of Solano County this afternoon, according to a fire dispatcher said.

The four-alarm fire was reported around 1095 Collinsville Road at 1:28 p.m., according to the Solano County Fire Department dispatcher. Firefighters remain in the area trying to get the fire under control, and at least four homes were ablaze at 2:45 p.m.
