24-Year-Old Arrested on Burglary Charges at Walmart

A Dixon resident was arrested on burglary charges at Walmart Saturday evening, according to the Dixon Police Log. A police spokesperson described the incident, which led to the arrest of Dixon resident Brittnie Barr, 24, as a case of "glorified shoplifting."

"Burglary doesn’t necessarily mean breaking a window or prying open a door," said the spokesperson via email. "The technical definition of robbery (ie: pushing the clerk after a shoplift = “strong arm robbery”), makes the call seem more grandiose than it really is."

If a person enters a business to commit a theft or commit any felony, they are guilty of burglary. From there, it's up to the business to press charges.
