UPDATED: 2 Suspects Wanted for Attempted Murder Shot By Police & Feds Outside Walmart in Fairfield

Police said both men were armed in Thursday afternoon incident, and their conditions are not known.

Two armed suspects shot by Fairfield police and federal agents this afternoon outside the Walmart Supercenter on North Texas Street in Fairfield were wanted on suspicion of attempted murder, according to a police spokesman.

Around 2:45 p.m. Fairfield officers and a team of federal agents attempting to locate a suspect in an attempted homicide confronted the suspect behind a Walmart store at 2701 North Texas St., according to Officer Cleo Mayoral.

The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, was shot during the confrontation, and his current condition is not known, Mayoral said.

Around 30 minutes later, Fairfield police confronted a second suspect, also wanted for attempted murder, across the street at the Bennington Apartments at 2780 North Texas Street, Mayoral said.

That suspect, who was also armed, was also shot, and his condition is also unknown, Mayoral said.

Police and federal agents remain on the scene investigating the shootings, Mayoral said.

No officers were injured in the shootings, Mayoral said.

The U.S. Marshals Office confirmed that its agents were involved in the incident but referred questions to Fairfield police.
