After attending yesterday's Service Club Luncheon at the Dixon May Fair, it dawned on me that there are some really terrific people in our community that do not belong to a civic club.
Maybe they haven't been asked.
I didn't want to be part of a club that did not reach out for new members. I've always felt there was a lot to do to help Dixon and there is power in numbers!
Kiwanis Club of Dixon is only 3 years old but we have successfully served Dixon children--our international club mission is to better the world one child and one community at a time.
We raise funds through our annual Festival of Trees; clean up places like Dixon water ponds, downtown, and most recently the ; volunteer at the library's children's story time; established the Builder's Club and are working on the Key Club (both leadership clubs); and we finanaically contribute/support various community causes that directly affect the lives of children (such as at , the Dixon Community Education Foundation, and the Kiwanis Family House at the UCDavis Med Center.)
These are all accomplishments we could not have done as individuals but as a group we've been empowered. If by an chance you have never been invited to join a civic club, here is your invitation.
Joining Kiwanis costs $150.00 per year and you are required to attend one meeting a month. Please call at my shop (707) 678-6262 if you are interested in more information or find us on our Facebook.
