The Active 20-30 Clubs US & Canada provide young adults an opportunity for personal growth, friendships, and leadership development while improving the quality of life for the special needs of children in its community.
The club had its beginnings in 1922 when young men in two widely separated communities of the United States saw the need for a service club for young men. They found that established service clubs were dominated by older men, run by older men, and whose officers were invariably much older men.
Consisting of men and women between the ages of 20-39 from the Vaca Valley and surrounding areas, the 20-30 Club is a non-profit serving special needs children in our community by holding various fundraisers and performing volunteer hours.
Locally, the club is known for their help in many areas, especially for hosting the public Easter Egg Hunt in Dixon. Less known, the club partners with Opportunity House, CASA (Court Advocates of Solano County for foster children), RISE (Rural Innovations in Social Economics), and they are most proud of their annual event, Child Spree. At the beginning of the school year, the club takes children in need on a school shopping spree with a $100 Kohl's giftcard, followed by a haircut and out to breakfast. The children also recieve a backpack and school supplies they otherwise would go without.
Club meetings are hosted twice a month. Business meetings are held the second Monday of each month at Mary's Pizza Shack in Dixon at 6:30 p.m. Social meetings are the third Wednesday of each month, rotating locations.
