Serial Armed Robberies Reported in Dixon

Two suspects sought in series of armed robberies in Dixon.

According to reports in the Vacaville Reporter and the Dixon Tribune, three armed robberies occured in Dixon on Friday, November 30th.  The first robbery occurred around 6 PM at Northwest Park.  The second was approximately 9 PM, again at Northwest Park.  The third robbery was shortly after 10 PM, this time in the vicinity of North Washington and West A Streets.

All victims report that they were approached by two Latino males, one brandishing either a semiautomatic handgun or a BB gun.

All witnesses report that the individual brandishing the gun was a Latino male in his 20s, five foot seven, about 200 pounds with a shaved head and goatee.  He was wearing blue jeans and a grey hooded sweatshirt or "hoodie."

In at least two of the robberies, the suspects targeted young men carrying backpacks.  They reportedly robbed their victims of wallets, cell phones and other electronic devices.

In all three instances, the suspects fled on foot.

The robberies are being investigated by Sgt Tom Cordova, Dixon PD. Anyone with information should contact Dixon PD at 678-7080.

This hits close to home as one of the victims was a family member.  I'm disturbed that the Patch failed to report this important story, thus warning potential future victims to be on the lookout.

First off, thank you Ian for posting this. Second, we apologize for not getting it on the site ourselves earlier.
On one hand, you're right; we should have had it posted. With that said, you've demonstrated the site's value by posting yourself. If someone you know is the victim of something like this, the site is a place for you to get the word out immediately. I wish we hadn't have missed it, but I can't say it'll be the last time. Thanks again.

Hi Justin, We could use a consistent posting of the Dixon Police Log. There has been a lot of new graffiti in town. The police log will help people to know what is going on, so we can keep an eye out for these types of crimes.

I too am wondering why our local media is not posting crime reports sooner than another city to warn us residents. For the last couple months it seems this has been an issue, as well as police logs not up to date.

Are the Patch and Tribune holding back on crime stories to make people think we don't have a crime problem here in Dixon?

Has anyone heard anything about an armed robber approaching women in Dixon either in their driveways or when they open their front door?

Major thanks for the heads-up, Ian. I walk there a lot, and alone...I'll find other places to walk for a while...
Justin Cox (Editor) December 5, 2012 at 02:08 pm
The answer is simple: No. We failed to get this story up right away, but it wasn't deliberate at all. The Tribune did report the story, as Ian notes in the first paragraph.

Had a man ring my doorbell yesterday asking if he could rmove the dents from what he thought was my vehicle...seemed very odd... his buddy was waiting in a truck outside...told him that it was illegal to go door to door in Dixon... I think his story was bogus...something else was going on.

Thanks for reporting this, Ian. My son often walks alone with his back pack to Starbucks to study. Next time he'll take the car. Sad that in a nice small town like Dixon we have to worry about this. Hope they catch these clowns soon.

This occurred last Friday and we are just hearing about it?

Strange coincidence that Davis police report in The Enterprise... "Armed robbers strike three times in North Davis
Davis police are investigating a string of three armed robberies that occurred at North Davis park and greenbelt areas Thursday night. No one was injured in the incidents, which took place between 8:15 and 10 p.m., Lt. Paul Doroshov said. In the first crime, a man was robbed while riding his bike in the area of Pamplona Avenue. A couple walking their dog near Catalina and Corona drives were targeted next, followed by a man who was pushed off his bike at Sycamore Park. The victims reported having backpacks, wallets and cellphones stolen, Doroshov said. Police are seeking two male suspects, about 5-foot-8, wearing hooded jackets. One of the robbers displayed a handgun during all three holdups. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5400."

I have heard rumors of robberies that target women in Dixon, at Safeway and Walmart. We also had an incident in our neighborhood that same Friday night as the robberies with someone ringing doorbells at midnight and 5am.. Too scary we really need to look out for eachother.

Didn't O'Reilly's just close on the other side of town? There's a 'for lease' sign on the building.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher

Thanks for the post Dean. The Dixon VFW has contributed several thousand dollars so far to bothRead More homes in Dixon and will be contributing a lot more in the future for these Vets. The housing program is managed by the North Bay Coummity Action Council (formerly known as the Fairfield/Suisun CAC). The Vets are very grateful for all the community support. One project we are trying to get funding or donations for is we need approximately 50 cubic yards ofRead More top soil to even out the back and side yards and bring them up even with the patio in the back.

Hi Dean. Come to the next VFW meeting. I'm sure the members will support this. You might want toRead More get an estimate from Dixon Landscape Materials for a fill dirt load.
