Macy's stores in San Francisco have been bustling since opening at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Doorbuster sales enticed shoppers into two San Francisco Macy's locations, along with other promotions.

Many shoppers took to Twitter to comment on the crowds at the

Westfield San Francisco Centre on Market Street and around Union Square.

"Black Friday shoppers are taking over the streets of SF!" one user posted this afternoon.

Another wrote, "Black Friday in downtown SF.  Never again."            In San Leandro, a labor advocacy group was staging a protest this afternoon at the Walmart at 15555 Hesperian Blvd.

The large crowd gathered in front of the store at 3 p.m. to demand higher pay for low-wage workers at stores such as Walmart.

The Black Friday protest was part of a national effort at Walmart stores around the country.

Late this afternoon at least five people had been arrested at the San Leandro demonstration.
