Dixon Family Services Gets Boost From Two Local Service Agencies

Dixon Kiwanis Club, Dixon Lions Club donate to DFS

Dixon Family Services recently received donations from both Dixon Kiwanis Club and Dixon Lions Club to help them in their mission of serving Dixon.

Proceeds from the club's annual Festival of Trees in the amount of $2,000.00 was handed over to Rich Mason representing DFS this past week at a dinner at Bud's Pub and Grill. Almost 80 children in Dixon needed a little extra helping coping with school or homelife this past year, and with this most recent gift, they will receive that assistance through DFS.

"We are very proud of our JFK program and appreciative that Kiwanis wants to support it," he said.

"Thank you so much for the contribution and we look forward to working hand-in-hand with the Kiwanis for many years," said Cookie Powell DFS Director who also oversees the Just for Kids program.

The Kiwanis Festival of Trees has helped support the program each of its three years because the services align with the club's mission to serve children on community at a time, according to Club President Debra Dingman.

Dixon Lions Club also recently donated to DFS. A check from the Lions Club was recently given to Cookie Powell and will go towards DFS’ efforts to help the community.
