Dixon Sinks Into A Vat Of Financial Turmoil.

Fumes of Dixon's Potential Financial Meltdown Aired.

After reading the Vacaville Reporter article http://www.thereporter.com/news/ci_18103113

I wonder why our town has been spending as if we have a never ending forever expanding tax base.  The article quotes City Manager Nancy Huston  "The economic downturn has led to a near stop in all development in the city," she wrote, emphasizing that development fees pay for police and fire costs. "With no new development in nearly four years, those funds are unable to pay debt service and those payments are being made from other reserve funds."

I think it was a mistake in the past to budget on speculation of growth.   I think looking out into the future that it is a mistake to continue this trend because this sets us on a track of being forced to “build build at all costs build”.

I enjoy living in a small town.  I suspect that most other folks in this town also appreciate this feature.  If we are to keep this town small we must extinguish this need to build by not planning on an ever expanding tax base.

I believe that we need to act now and place a growth governor into the system so that growth is not forced on us by the city government and their need to fuel salaries etc.
